Senior Financial Adviser (Sydney NSW)

The Company

Our client is a truly independent and holistic financial advice firm. The company boasts a strong support system for advisers with in-house specialists in the areas of portfolio management, risk, lending and property. They have a client services team that books meetings for the advisers, an administration team that prepares and implements all paperwork and a para-planning team to prepare advice and arrange insurance. The adviser's main role in the process is to identify the opportunities with the client and then pass the work to the relevant specialist to implement.


The role is to see clients and accurately record their circumstances. It involves overseeing the many parts of the business (insurance, loans, para-planning, compliance, client administration, client service, etc.) in the delivery of advice and the provision of financial services.

Purpose of the Role

  • To service a large existing book of clients - review existing insurance, superannuation and loan arrangements to assess the ongoing suitability of these products for the clients
  • To prospect for new business from existing client base
  • To assess revenue writing opportunities when meeting new leads. It is not sufficient to simply provide service in the areas requested by the clients but to probe deeper for other areas of business
  • To oversee the preparation and timely delivery of advice to clients
  • To oversee the preparation and timely implementation of advice

Key Responsibilities

  • Speaking with clients and influencing their decisions on financial outcomes
  • Collecting detailed information about clients and their financial position. Keeping detailed records of all client interactions in Xplan CRM
  • Coherently and precisely documenting information collected from client in Fact Finds and File Notes
  • Agreeing client strategies with para-planning and compliance
  • Removing roadblocks and delays in the preparation of advice documents
  • Presenting strategies to clients and influencing their thinking
  • Overseeing the completion of business ensuring insurance application are smoothly implemented, rollovers completed successfully, ensuring loan applications are smoothly implemented

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Above average writing and communication skills to clearly document client situations and solutions to enable other parts of the business to work on the clients' solution without having to refer back to the adviser for clarification
  • Above average ability in co-ordinating and working collaboratively with the many business divisions within the company

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma of Financial Planning
  • RG146
  • Diploma of Mortgage Broking (not essential for start but will be required to complete after employment start)
  • 5 years' experience providing advice to clients in a similar role
